QUESTAR COMPLETES CALIFORNIA GAS WELL

SALT LAKE CITY --- Questar Corp. (NYSE:STR) said its exploration and production subsidiary -- Questar Exploration and Production Co. -- is completing a gas-producing wildcat well in the Travis project area near Denverton Creek field (Sacramento Basin), Solano County, Calif.

The Pale Rider No. 3-26, located in the SE SW of section 26, T5N, R1E, was tested on May 8, 2001, flowing at a rate of 5,000 Mcfg/d with flowing-tubing pressure (FTP) of 5,400 psi from a 15-foot perforated interval. The well was shut in overnight after flowing for approximately two hours. On May 9, a longer flow test was conducted, and the well flowed at a rate of 4,500 Mcfg/d with a flowing-tubing pressure of 5,500 psi on a 12/64-inch choke.

Questar Exploration and Production (QEP), with a 40 percent working interest, is the largest single interest owner in the well, which is operated by Production Specialties Co., Woodland, Calif.  Daily sales rates of 5,000-6,000 Mcfg/d are expected once the well is connected to a pipeline. A one-mile pipeline is expected to be completed within 30 to 45 days.

The new well cost approximately $1.8 million to drill, complete and equip. QEP owns 13,238 gross and 5,035 net acres around the well.
