KEITH O. RATTIE NAMED QUESTAR PRESIDENT, CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
SALT LAKE CITY The Questar Corp. (NYSE:STR) board of directors today announced the appointment of energy executive Keith O. Rattie as president and chief operating officer, effective immediately.
Rattie, 46, also was appointed to serve as a Questar director, filling the remainder of a term that expires in May 2003. He has held a variety of engineering and management positions within oil and gas production, gathering, processing and marketing, as well as the power and pipeline industries. Most recently he served as senior vice president of Coastal Corp. and president and chief executive officer of a wholly owned Coastal subsidiary, Coastal Gas Services Co. The subsidiary conducted Coastal's unregulated natural gas activities.
R.D. Cash, who previously served as president, will continue as chairman and chief executive officer of Questar, a $2.3 billion diversified natural gas company headquartered in Salt Lake City. Cash has served as president since 1980, chief executive officer since 1982 and chairman since 1985.
Commenting on Rattie's appointment, Cash said: "We are pleased that Keith decided to join us. As we continue to position Questar in the unregulated environment, he brings considerable skills in such areas as large natural gas construction projects, international energy, oil and gas production, gas-and-power marketing and generation projects, and natural gas gathering, processing and field services. His experience working for a major oil company, and a large pipeline and exploration and production company, especially in unregulated activities, will be invaluable as Questar moves forward," Cash said.
Prior to joining Coastal in 1995, Rattie worked for Chevron Corp. for 19 years in various engineering and management positions, including general manager of Chevron's international gas unit. He is a native of Washington state and holds an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Washington and an MBA from St. Mary's College (California).
Through subsidiaries, Questar engages in energy development and production; gas gathering and processing; wholesale gas, electricity and liquids trading; retail energy services; interstate gas transmission and storage; retail gas distribution; and information systems and technologies.
